<br />
And this is how I feel about that:<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/frecklemama/9446240128/" title="Untitled by Frecklemama, on Flickr"><img alt="Untitled" height="500" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2858/9446240128_104a4aecaa.jpg" width="375" /></a><br />
<br />
But seriously, my goal is to provide more valuable and organized content for my fellow stitchers and fabriholics.<br />
<br />
And also, today is the first day of school (cue the fireworks and champagne cork popping!):<br />

I hope your day was as enjoyable as mine was LOL.<br />
<br />
The blog should be good as new in about a week!<br />

If you follow me on IG you've probably seen all of these, but I wanted to blog them anyway.<br />
<br />
First of all, I have been loving Anna from Noodlehead's <a href="http://www.noodle-head.com/2012/06/open-wide-zippered-pouch-diy-tutorial.html">Open Wide Pouch tutorial</a>. This is a generously free tutorial offered in multiple sizes. I even ordered some laminate fabric to line some pouches for leaky toiletries.<br />
<br />
The first one is made with a hippo fabric in more of a home dec weight which meant that I didn't use interfacing. I should have. The bag is a little too floppy still. It is lined with Nicey Jane laminated fabric (Nicey Jane is my all-time most hoarded fabric). I had trouble with the zipper installation on this one. For some reason I took this pic before adding the zipper pull fabric too. Oh well. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/frecklemama/8944284030/" title="Open Wide Pouch pattern by Noodlehead by Frecklemama, on Flickr"><img alt="Open Wide Pouch pattern by Noodlehead" height="380" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3686/8944284030_4a1d736b66.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
The next one uses the most adorable <a href="http://www.etsy.com/search/supplies?q=michael+miller+prom&view_type=gallery&ship_to=US">Michael Miller Prom fabric</a> which I always call "Girl Spiking the Punch" fabric. It is lined in a purple tiny dot fabric from my stash.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/frecklemama/8943654727/" title="Open Wide Pouch pattern by Noodlehead by Frecklemama, on Flickr"><img alt="Open Wide Pouch pattern by Noodlehead" height="332" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3668/8943654727_cd16efce18.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/frecklemama/8944278184/" title="Open Wide Pouch pattern by Noodlehead by Frecklemama, on Flickr"><img alt="Open Wide Pouch pattern by Noodlehead" height="376" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3688/8944278184_127d33dbf8.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
The next one uses a combination of Flea Market Fancy and orange tonal chevron. Sorry for the awful lighting. I finish projects at night and can't wait to take pics!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/frecklemama/8944279600/" title="Open Wide Pouch pattern by Noodlehead by Frecklemama, on Flickr"><img alt="Open Wide Pouch pattern by Noodlehead" height="400" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7359/8944279600_827f1967f6.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
I also made one of Anna's <a href="http://www.noodle-head.com/2013/01/divided-basket-pattern.html">Divided Baskets</a> which is the perfect size for many things including two rows of pattern packets. Right now I have my Fat Quarter Shop BOM pattern packets on one side and my Simplicity patterns on the other.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/frecklemama/8943649791/" title="Divided Basket pattern by Noodlehead by Frecklemama, on Flickr"><img alt="Divided Basket pattern by Noodlehead" height="500" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3725/8943649791_7a9d0db347.jpg" width="375" /></a><br />
<br />
Finally with the Anna Noodlehead love, I made another <a href="http://www.noodle-head.com/2011/03/241-tote-pattern.html">241 Tote</a>. This one was for my sister <a href="http://www.carrieryan.com/">Carrie</a>:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/frecklemama/8943660595/" title="241 Tote pattern by Noodlehead by Frecklemama, on Flickr"><img alt="241 Tote pattern by Noodlehead" height="500" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8280/8943660595_30ee9bae80.jpg" width="353" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
I also made a hippo from McCall's M6484 pattern. This is the small size. The large must be huge!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/frecklemama/8944285802/" title="Stuart the Girly Hippo. by Frecklemama, on Flickr"><img alt="Stuart the Girly Hippo." height="500" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3671/8944285802_fac938da06.jpg" width="368" /></a><br />
<br />
His name is Stuart the Girly Hippo thanks to my IG friends :-)<br />
<br />
Inspired by<a href="http://sew-fantastic.blogspot.com/"> Terri at Sew Fantastic</a> and using the <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/91742687/zip-pocket-pouches-pdf-sewing-pattern?ref=sr_gallery_6&ga_search_query=michelle+patterns&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_search_type=all">Zip Pocket Pouch pattern from Michelle Patterns,</a> I made myself a little elephant clutch for vacation:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/frecklemama/9248105946/" title="Zipper pouch using Michelle Patterns pattern by Frecklemama, on Flickr"><img alt="Zipper pouch using Michelle Patterns pattern" height="500" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7370/9248105946_1c83c7ac52.jpg" width="375" /></a><br />
<br />
Finally, I fell in love with <a href="http://crazymomquilts.bigcartel.com/product/thread-catcher-pattern-pdf">Amanda Jean Nyberg's Thread Catcher pattern</a> and made some cute little buckets. These go together very quickly and are a great way to show off those fabric pairings that just call out from your stash to be together:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/frecklemama/8679159726/" title="Crazymomquilts Thread Catchers. LOVE this pattern. by Frecklemama, on Flickr"><img alt="Crazymomquilts Thread Catchers. LOVE this pattern." height="500" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8257/8679159726_753487a922.jpg" width="375" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/frecklemama/8943657877/" title="Thread catcher pattern by Crazymomquilts by Frecklemama, on Flickr"><img alt="Thread catcher pattern by Crazymomquilts" height="500" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5444/8943657877_3d9c0bf49c.jpg" width="375" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
I made my mom one for her needlepoint thread bits:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/frecklemama/8943652413/" title="Thread catcher pattern by Crazymomquilts by Frecklemama, on Flickr"><img alt="Thread catcher pattern by Crazymomquilts" height="500" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7305/8943652413_4c93506fd7.jpg" width="488" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
And when you make your mom a thread catcher, she's going to want a mug rug to go with it:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/frecklemama/8944277438/" title="Matching mug rug for Mom by Frecklemama, on Flickr"><img alt="Matching mug rug for Mom" height="300" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5340/8944277438_e7e646c2b1.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
Thanks for making it through the photo gallery today! For more photos of what I'm up to at the sewing machine, be sure to follow me on<a href="http://instagram.com/frecklemama#"> Instagram</a>! <br />

Unfortunately, the man she fell in love with is a die-hard Minnesotan! She has a wonderful loving family who make it worth the sacrifice, but she still longs for her yearly vacation to the beach in the summer. This summer, in celebration of our dad's 70th birthday, we planned a big family trip to the beach. I knew I wanted to be able to give Jenny a bed-sized quilt and present it to her in person during our trip.<br />
<br />
When searching for a quilt pattern to make for Jenny, I immediately fell in love with the <a href="http://quiltingtutorials.com/all/sail-boat-quilt-tutorial-10-hexagon/">Missouri Star Quilt Company's Sailboat block tutorial </a>(presented by another Jenny!). She has always loved to sail and even took a hard-core Outward Bound sailing trip when she was in high school. I have many memories of being deliberately capsized on our family's Sunfish sailboat when we were growing up. She thought it was hilarious. I thought big sisters were monsters.<br />
<br />
The Missouri Star Quilt Co tutorial was made using<a href="http://www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/browse/2331?&c=View+All"> Tula Pink's Salt Water fabric line</a>. Light, airy and nautical, this collection was an obvious choice for a summer bed quilt to go in Jenny and Jeff's gray bedroom.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/frecklemama/9245325441/" title="Sailboat quilt for Jenny by Frecklemama, on Flickr"><img alt="Sailboat quilt for Jenny" height="500" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3746/9245325441_3f0587e329.jpg" width="375" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
For the backing, I had some left-over layer cake squares paired with <a href="http://www.pinkcastlefabrics.com/collections/collection-bella-solids/products/bella-in-seafoam-1">Moda Bella solid in Seafoam.</a><br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Here is a closer look:<br />

<br />
<br />
The quilt is now in its new home in Rosemount, MN, with Jenny, Jeff, and my three nephews. I hope it gives Jenny sweet dreamy memories of warm sandy beaches, cool ocean spray over the bow and the gentle pings of rigging in the wind. I, on the other hand, will always hear the harsh bark of "JIBE-HO" before being dumped unceremoniously into the bay.Chris {frecklemama}http://www.blogger.com/profile/02246567685766641637noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4970648236832240415.post-92081075458457030022013-02-12T23:14:00.000-05:002013-02-12T23:14:01.007-05:00New Finishes!Here are a few finishes from the last few months:<br />

Ok, so there is the round-up from October through January. Quick eye-candy that you've seen already if you follow me on Instagram. Sometimes I feel really lazy so putting the finishes together in one place helps me realize just how much I've accomplished! In addition to these, I also made bee blocks, quilted client quilts for holiday deadlines, folded laundry, ordered a new refigerator door handle, re-programmed the garage remote, did the dishes, cooked a few meals or a thousand, took kids to karate, swimming, chess, and the eye glasses place to replace broken frames. Twice. Fed the dog, cleaned up eaten Barbies, cleaned up colorful dog poop, cleaned up more eaten Barbies, and signed the dog up for Boot Camp. Etc. You know the drill. </div>

I hope the winter season has brought you as much joy as it has brought me. There have been challenges but I always seem to find relaxation, inspiration and laughter through my sewing and especially my online sewing friends. I am very excited to get together with several of you at The Stash Bash in April!</div>

<br />
As usual, I am on a complete high following an amazing <a href="http://www.sewingsummit.com/">Sewing Summit</a> trip. Getting together in real life with my online sewing friends is like a dream come true. The only huge disappointment of the weekend was my own lack of energy to stay up all hours in the open sewing room <strike>laughing with all of my friends</strike> getting work done. You know what I really want in addition to my annual beloved Sewing Summit? A weekend where I can hang out with my tweeple, make a dent in my WIPs, and not worry about where I need to be when or what to wear. Oh, and also it can't take too much out of my stash-building fabric-loving budget.<br />
<br />
Enter <a href="http://www.thestashbash.com/">The Stash Bash</a>. Now why in the world would I want to plan an event when I have a perfectly busy job raising three kids and trying to longarm quilt for my clients? Well, I love to plan events and bring people together. <br />
<br />
Before becoming an at-home mom and longarm quilter, I was a corporate event manager. The last job I had in the industry was as the global Corporate Trade Show Manager for UPS. I am a people person and I would much rather be on a busy trade show floor than in a cubicle. I loved spending my work days traveling around the country talking to people about our products and technology. I loved flying through the airports and being around the hustle and bustle of all of those busy people. Even as a SAHM I have been involved in event planning and bringing people together. I am entering my seventh year of captaining a women's tennis team, and I help plan girls' retreats in the mountains twice a year for this beloved group of crazies.<br />
<br />
The mission of <a href="http://www.thestashbash.com/">The Stash Bash</a> is to provide an affordable sewing retreat where we can come together, spread out our projects and enjoy working alongside each other. I envision a relaxed weekend where everything is already paid for, there are other stitchers and quilters on hand to answer any questions or give advice while you're working, and you can enjoy the mild Georgia weather with a walk around the lake or a nap in the sun. There will be giveaways, optional games, and lots of laughs. The event facility has kitchenettes, lots of common areas in addition to the main sewing room, and is only 20 minutes from Georgia's largest quilt shop A Scarlet Thread.<br />
<br />
Atlanta boasts the busiest airport in the world. There are direct flights from almost everywhere! Atlanta is also the crossroads of interstates 75, 85 and 20. Hopefully you can find an inexpensive flight or are lucky enough to live within easy driving distance.<br />
<br />
I would love for you to consider attending <a href="http://www.thestashbash.com/">The Stash Bash</a>. Getting you guys out of my phone and into my immediate presence would be the greatest gift! Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. Registration for<a href="http://www.thestashbash.com/"> The Stash Bash</a> will open next Friday, Nov 2 at noon EST. Please visit www.thestashbash.com for more information. Spread the word with your favorite fabric-stash friends. Hope to see you in April!<br />

This post is long-overdue! I have promised many people a post on how we (ahem, my DH) took a $99 Ikea table and turned it into a customized sewing machine table. Unfortunately, we didn't photograph the process, but I have taken lots of pics of the finished product so that I can try to describe it to you in detail.<br />
<br />
Essentially, we bought a basic Ikea table (I think it is<a href="http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80089003/"> this</a> one). Then we bought a piece of unfinished hardwood that's about 3/4" thick and two pieces of 2"x3" (? maybe it's a 2x4 and I'm an idiot?). Look in the scrap bin at your Home Depot because it really won't be seen.<br />
<br />
The first thing I did was take off my accessory caddy and place my machine onto a large piece of paper. Then, from straight above, I traced a pencil outline onto the paper. I cut out the outline so that I basically had a paper footprint of my machine. <br />
<br />
At this point you need to think through how you will get your machine INTO it's hole. Some machines have funky architectural aspects. Mine, for instance, has a sloping sewing surface as well as a base that is bigger than the sewing surface level. Because of this, I made my shape have a larger open right side so that I could slide my machine into it's slot. This will make sense later in the post.<br />
<br />
Lay your footprint paper onto the table surface and move it around to find the spot that works best for you. Take into consideration how far back you like the machine from the front edge of the table, how much table space you prefer on the right vs the left of your machine, etc. Once it's in the right spot, tape it down and trace a line around it onto the table surface.<br />
<br />
Now the cutting begins! Remember that it is very ok to cut your hole too small, but it is NOT OK to cut it too big. Start by making a hole in the middle of your space with either a very large drill bit or a hole bit. Then you can jigsaw out to your line and around your line until your footprint falls down. Don't think about finishing this edge just yet! There will probably be lots of trial and error before the final edge shape is ready to be smoothed with sandpaper.<br />
<br />
At this point, slide or place your machine into the spot to see how it works. Use a pencil to sketch onto the table where you need to cut or shave some more off. Keep tweaking until you achieve the right hole. Here is my machine footprint opening:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLNtbVz53ztgVwcndmJ0PhvnDbPxd8mYleZGQeoOgw6-ERWDIvfZmqexxniyCSfc9UlvkUgz1OhcYSXtPn_hU7E-BUmVtdakqh8XTqxsGJyE6edEISfojQl3UZI-jpaDpNTaCHzQVFmQpE/s1600/001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLNtbVz53ztgVwcndmJ0PhvnDbPxd8mYleZGQeoOgw6-ERWDIvfZmqexxniyCSfc9UlvkUgz1OhcYSXtPn_hU7E-BUmVtdakqh8XTqxsGJyE6edEISfojQl3UZI-jpaDpNTaCHzQVFmQpE/s400/001.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Next you need to build the shelf that will hold your machine. Cut the 2x3's into two lengths that go from inside the front Ikea table skirt to inside the back skirt. So when looking at the table from the front, these pieces are like rails that run from front to back under the table. You can see the side of one below:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZwl3gEZZ6ij-dm6Z0f6zHE2S5Fp2ezjnfLWhWW1PdE3fENC2mVtdOVp5Jms78h3gsewrc1aLwOGj6ADr51n0HzUQlUrHrVgS0DOc-uwlntbEw4uS1loG9NAM7-jkCrH_Nkh9ysWB9tIiy/s1600/002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZwl3gEZZ6ij-dm6Z0f6zHE2S5Fp2ezjnfLWhWW1PdE3fENC2mVtdOVp5Jms78h3gsewrc1aLwOGj6ADr51n0HzUQlUrHrVgS0DOc-uwlntbEw4uS1loG9NAM7-jkCrH_Nkh9ysWB9tIiy/s400/002.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And a view from underneath shows it running parallel to the Ikea table's own support 1x1. These 2x3's will be bolted in to the front and back skirts.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNkY7b_kmjbq7k0uad_K8rNRwI-wrASnWr1LVra6wDwCGhXQXsqQqg11teLAA6_fhRC6qWaGtRK6NUWalPslL2W7Pe-Z5ivBuxOCgW6J15hSA0b1plW2HXQs3KVFNkYE-CHRbVSkcrfqMm/s1600/005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNkY7b_kmjbq7k0uad_K8rNRwI-wrASnWr1LVra6wDwCGhXQXsqQqg11teLAA6_fhRC6qWaGtRK6NUWalPslL2W7Pe-Z5ivBuxOCgW6J15hSA0b1plW2HXQs3KVFNkYE-CHRbVSkcrfqMm/s400/005.JPG" width="266" /></a></div>
<br />
Once those are in, you will use screws with wing nuts to attach the machine shelf. The reason we do it this way is so that you can use the wing nuts to adjust the height of the machine shelf to give you a perfectly smooth sewing surface:<br />

I'm sorry this is not really a useful tutorial. I just wanted to illustrate how a $100 table can become a nice, sturdy sewing table customized to your own machine bed. This was done in one night and one morning. Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks.</div>

(BTW, the machine AND table in this post are available for sale right now. The Viking Sapphire 870Q is $850 and the table is $150. I am north of Atlanta, GA.) </div>

Our first day of school was August 1st, but I've been so busy I haven't had time to post. My tiny newborn baby started kindergarten this year. OMG what the heck happened to the last five years?! And just like that, they're all in school.</div>

I love this fabric line and wanted to choose a simple design that showed off the prints. I took squares and framed them with strips using a FQ bundle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiJ9n4daoBvHTBltKO_hRAqHi0uEeSljMEVVuBJ4M42MHhqXAhxQZEAELwhKuDohF5HA_8f4YKsZkapLSom0JuDieoETlfeuNbvi8U14p8OG3nqLeJjIfLySWW868F3R8DTqGwK3FkPJwV/s1600/Jamie's+Quilt+003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiJ9n4daoBvHTBltKO_hRAqHi0uEeSljMEVVuBJ4M42MHhqXAhxQZEAELwhKuDohF5HA_8f4YKsZkapLSom0JuDieoETlfeuNbvi8U14p8OG3nqLeJjIfLySWW868F3R8DTqGwK3FkPJwV/s640/Jamie's+Quilt+003.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I backed it in the white print with bugs and snakes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK3qQZsyRririAEqT2dpGAdfCwg2I-AXt8tZmk8mxdiE_p-hC2EpIyxDwWrV74haKsN2bPrB3GSoaEnorLdA3XNTf-d5vyva2UfXUv1iYrYisefJ5n8Ge7nI0Zm5UZCwq2UWJGlmpvlObP/s1600/Jamie's+Quilt+008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK3qQZsyRririAEqT2dpGAdfCwg2I-AXt8tZmk8mxdiE_p-hC2EpIyxDwWrV74haKsN2bPrB3GSoaEnorLdA3XNTf-d5vyva2UfXUv1iYrYisefJ5n8Ge7nI0Zm5UZCwq2UWJGlmpvlObP/s640/Jamie's+Quilt+008.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The binding is a simple green pindot from my stash.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2EMfHqM2cbIyTaaoQiIlF3-OSUSFnUXwS9_G6ODM4CrwdLURB9Pf-UuX5C-TF2LCGWbGmRPwGuunoF_Q5XZqfdTqGcDDwIov2uC1cHsjanjmTzM1kl1QxsyM3zLbiNLDuYI_CcYYjoTRR/s1600/Jamie's+Quilt+002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2EMfHqM2cbIyTaaoQiIlF3-OSUSFnUXwS9_G6ODM4CrwdLURB9Pf-UuX5C-TF2LCGWbGmRPwGuunoF_Q5XZqfdTqGcDDwIov2uC1cHsjanjmTzM1kl1QxsyM3zLbiNLDuYI_CcYYjoTRR/s640/Jamie's+Quilt+002.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Here is a pic on the longarm:<br />

<br />
I did a simple stipple so that it would get nice and crinkly in the dryer. I hid a few hearts in there for good measure:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/frecklemama/6930879764/" title="Hearts by Frecklemama, on Flickr"><img alt="Hearts" height="500" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5462/6930879764_0787ae3280.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
Then I put on the cute green binding and found a helper:<br />

There are lots of wonderful things to look forward to. The most important ones are these:</span><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rD6U4whixtU/TwNMxuBdWMI/AAAAAAAAArs/sL9avo_SC5E/s1600/Xmas+2011+192.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rD6U4whixtU/TwNMxuBdWMI/AAAAAAAAArs/sL9avo_SC5E/s400/Xmas+2011+192.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ECVr1OJmbts/TwNM6-YwX7I/AAAAAAAAAr0/BnZ-2KfArEI/s1600/Xmas+2011+213.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ECVr1OJmbts/TwNM6-YwX7I/AAAAAAAAAr0/BnZ-2KfArEI/s400/Xmas+2011+213.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iAkGY3gN5H0/TwNNAzfb6vI/AAAAAAAAAr8/plUybTwX6TE/s1600/Xmas+2011+186.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-iAkGY3gN5H0/TwNNAzfb6vI/AAAAAAAAAr8/plUybTwX6TE/s400/Xmas+2011+186.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">Lately some people have been giving bloggers a hard time about including their "personal" lives on their blogs. To that I give a big middle finger. I feel like I have an extended family of friends all over the world because of the intimacy of online friendships. If people didn't include personal bits in their online story, I would instead feel like I had an extended professional community around the world. The difference between professional relationships and true friendships is the personal information we share: vulnerability, failures in addition to successes, and the most personal reasons why we do the things we do.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;">These are my Three Reasons.</span>Chris {frecklemama}http://www.blogger.com/profile/02246567685766641637noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4970648236832240415.post-6058152826601730672011-12-15T14:50:00.001-05:002012-01-03T13:43:47.129-05:00Final 2011 Finishes! <br />
I have spent two weeks trying to write a blog post to describe this event but I keep deleting it and starting again. Words and iPhone pictures don't do it justice!<br />
<br />
So for now I'm going to just say this: GO. In 2012, GO TO SEWING SUMMIT. You won't regret it. I tweeted during that weekend that it was like the "Woodstock" of sewing bloggers. It's true! Love, chatter, late nights, and lots of laughs. <br />
<br />
Thank you to <a href="http://www.twomoreseconds.com/">Erin</a> and <a href="http://amyscreativeside.com/">Amy</a> who gave us the gift of togetherness. And thank you to<a href="http://sewingsummit.com/?p=1436"> the bloggers that did a better job at describing it.</a> And a <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/sewingsummit/">better job at photgraphing the weekend.</a> Meanwhile, here are a few of the pictures that I did get.<br />

<br />
My firstborn turned nine years old yesterday. He is smart, serious, organized, bossy and opinionated. He is loving and kind, helpful, and a very healthy eater. He loves to read and competes with his friends to earn AR (Advanced Reader) points at school. He prefers playing defense or goalie in soccer and is very good at it.<br />
<br />
This year he wanted a road bike so he can join Daddy riding on some serious bike rides. We got him a youth road bike last weekend and he loves it! He can already ride over 9 miles on it. <br />
<br />
I wanted to buy him a couple of other items to unwrap on his actual birthday so we got him a CD compliation of top 40 pop music, a compilation of well-known Christmas songs, a red hoodie sweatshirt, and a kids Sonicare toothbrush. Oh yes I did. He loves it. That's the kind of kid he is. The only one of the three of them who actuallly brushes his teeth without being cattle prodded.<br />
<br />
Luckily he has people like my mom who gave him a nerf-like bow and arrow set, my sister who gave him Star Wars Legos and his friends who are giving him Target gift cards and cash. He loves to shop.<br />
<br />
I can't express how much I love this human. He is so interesting! I put on Facebook yesterday that I was so lucky to have him in my life, and one of the first people who commented was his teacher saying how wonderful he is in her class :-) <br />
<br />
I wish for him an easy life, full of laughs, happiness, adventure, and loving people surrounding him. I am so thankful that he came into my life on that dark and rainy morning in High Wycombe, England. He made me a mother and challenged me to become an even better one each year. He is now becoming a friend as well. Happy Birthday baby boy!Chris {frecklemama}http://www.blogger.com/profile/02246567685766641637noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4970648236832240415.post-69750420796224242802011-09-25T11:18:00.000-04:002011-09-25T11:18:13.768-04:00*Crickets**tap, tap, tap* ... this thing on?<br />

The number one most exciting thing I'm looking forward to right now is<a href="http://www.sewingsummit.com/"> The Sewing Summit</a>! It takes place in less than two weeks in Salt Lake City. This is the LAST WEEK TO REGISTER. If you are considering joining this incredible group of online sewing friends, register now before it's too late. I can't tell you how much work <a href="http://www.amyscreativeside.com/">Amy</a> and <a href="http://www.twomoreseconds.com/">Erin</a> have put into this weekend. In addition to these two leaders, several participants have already come forward to lead small groups including dinners, swaps, tutorials, etc. The involvement and excitement by the participants stuns me. Please consider joining us if you're at all able.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have also been longarm quilting as much as possible. I got backed up this summer way more than I expected so I've been trying my hardest to catch up now that the kids are back in school!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Happy fall everyone. Stay tuned for more updates including some finished Bee Tweet blocks, detailed longarm quilting pictures, and my first attempt at hexies.</div>

<br />
I used my<a href="http://www.pbtex.com/html/spri.html"> Spring Street fabric</a> by Carolyn Gavin which is so fun to look at. I also love the fresh colors.<br />
<br />
I am not a garment sewer by any stretch of the imagination. I'm too much of a "just wing it" type sewer. I'm going to switch now from saying sewer (which reads like a poo processing plant) to sewist (which sounds very posh). So, as I was saying, my goal when putting together anything other than a quilt is to just do my best to follow the pattern and forgive the mistakes. I wouldn't say I cut corners but I don't do my best to get it just right. Instead I do my best to get it just done.<br />
<br />
This turned out way less than perfect but way more than cute.<br />

This last photo is to show you the vast discrepancy between the front length and the back length. Completely my own fault for not reading the directions all the way through before beginning. That's not usually like me! I actually love reading directions.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She's wearing a tiny pair of white bike shorts underneath it so I don't need to worry about accidental flashing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Just a note to those of you with monitors large enough to notice her red splotched feet: her brothers lovingly shared some of their Sharpie marker love with her last night. On a completely related note, SoftScrub actually took Sharpie off my wooden breakfast table! Maybe I caught it soon enough but I was very pleasantly surprised (ie, desperately thanking the tiny baby Jesus).</div>

I finally finished it and was able to deliver it to her on Sunday. It turned out great and is the softest thing ever. The flannel on the back was a lucky find at Tiny Stitches in Marietta. It is softer than you can imagine.<br />

T-shirt and sports jerseys are not easy to work with. They stretch like you wouldn't believe. I used interfacing but still had to struggle to keep them in line. Obviously these pics are taken after a nice trip through the washer and dryer.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
One of my favorite blocks is his old Woody costume. The polyester makes it sort of slippery like the nice silk edge of a baby blanket. His Hulk t-shirt has preschool paint stains on it which just melted my heart every time I looked at them. The Flash shirt in the upper right-hand corner was made by his grandmother I think and the spider t-shirt was made from his handprints. Could you not just die at how sweet all of these memories are?! His class t-shirts from elementary school, his football t-shirt from when his dad coached. </div>

If you are interested in having a t-shirt quilt made, please let me know. I am partnering with <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sweetteamom/">Rachel Locke </a>(my Tupelo, MS quilting homie) to be able to get your t-shirt quilts completed more quickly. Rachel is a piecing machine and I am a quilting machine. Together, we can put together a t-shirt or memory quilt for you that will be snuggled and loved for many years to come. Let me know if you'd like more information!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now you are Four.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Holy crap. I know that's not the most eloquent way to say it, but all of you moms know what I'm talking about.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This delicious newborn turned four years old last weekend. She freaking rocks my world. I can count on one hand how many times she's been in trouble in her lifetime. Is it because she's that good? Probably not. Is it because she is a spoiled princess and can do no wrong in my eyes? Probably.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Audrey is four. She won't wear shorts or pants because she is THAT girly. We have to call leggings "tights" to get her to put them on. We've even used that trick with pants. Just yesterday I had to tell her that the shorts were her "special soccer clothes" to get her to not wear a skirt to her first soccer lesson. She twirls, she dances, she sings, she talks our ears off. She loves Barbie and Polly Pocket. She jumps on the trampoline with the boys and holds her own in a physical fight with them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She loves the pool and floats around independently with a swim ring (fairy-themed, of course).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She thinks nuts are called "coconuts" and often asks for coconuts for a snack. I can't bring myself to correct her. Honey, I'll give you coconuts all day long because you're so darned cute.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She wants her hair long like Rapunzel's and she thinks the blow dryer actually helps make her hair longer.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
She asks to see this "Daisy" picture on my phone several times a week (down from several times a day). It was taken last September during her first visit to Disney World. She thinks she met God that day:</div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
She still has trouble pronouncing her "r's" so she sometimes says things wong like asking for wife cereal or fwosted-fwakes. Her favorite meal is chicken nuggets or spaghetti with red sauce (which she calls "me sauce" for some reason). </div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
She has picked up bad habits from her brothers like saying "what the?!", "whatEVER", and "fart". She has picked up bad habits from me like saying "freakin" and "oh GAWD". </div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
When I tell someone how stinkin' cute she is she always says indignantly "I NOT STINKIN'".</div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyway, you get the idea. I love her so much I want to put heavy chains on her that are locked to me 24/7. I have contemplated surgically inserting a Lowjack or GPS chip in her body somewhere. </div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
In August she begins Georgia Pre-K which runs the same full school day hours as regular school. It's like a tiny pre-step towards empty-nesting for me. That sounds silly but this is my last baby. I will no longer have a baby, a toddler, a pre-schooler. I will have a full time pre-k, a 2nd grader and a 3rd grader. Wait, wasn't I just in those early day baby-trenches?</div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">
So I celebrate the four-year-old milestone. She is healthy, smart, funny and loving. And I mourn the day too. Because she is one year closer to the snotty teen-age years. Oh GAWD. </div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I wanted to show you how great the Pips look with gray framing instead of black. Love it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Let me know if you have any questions or encounter any challenges with the pattern. Meanwhile, please be sure to check out the Quilt-Along that I'm hosting over at <a href="http://www.aboveallfabric.com/">http://www.aboveallfabric.com/</a>! Up next we will be making the bag that carries the quilt and all of your picnic goodies.</div>

Finally, if you haven't already checked out my new quilting business, <a href="http://www.cottonpig.com/">Cotton Pig</a>, please do. I am running a great kick-off sale on longarm quilting services for only the next couple of weeks. Spaces are filling up fast!</div>

Thanks to everyone who has already said wonderful things about these projects. Without such a supportive quilting community, none of this would be possible!</div>Chris {frecklemama}http://www.blogger.com/profile/02246567685766641637noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4970648236832240415.post-44937825321679205702011-04-29T06:00:00.001-04:002011-04-29T06:00:01.506-04:00Tutorial: Joining Batting Scraps to Use in a QuiltI know other people have done something similar to this. If you're like me, though, you can never get enough pictures or descriptions of new techniques! I love seeing how different quilters do the same tasks because everyone does it a little differently. Or maybe it just takes reading different descriptions before you finally decide to tackle something new.<br />
<br />
One of the skills that I had been putting off trying was making good use of my large batting scraps. I got tired of wasting so much batting and opening a new package every time I needed to baste a quilt. I had long narrow pieces that would work, if I could only magically put them together! I put off trying it because I was afraid of producing something with lumps or gaps that would be visible or obvious when feeling the quilt.<br />
<br />
Finally I tried it and discovered that it wasn't as hard as I thought! I took pics to share with you.<br />
<br />
First, determine the size batting you need for your project. Second, I would choose to create that size with the fewest scrap pieces as possible. That means using your larger pieces first. The super-small pieces aren't worth the trouble. Save them for use in placemats, mug rugs (or as I like to call them,<a href="http://www.quiltdad.com/"> Quilt Dads</a>), or pincushions.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4YLc3sl8WnGKmzYgA1dC2rsXryCevYUtRPb098ngVb4zhi1qHNMyW_xH3XgiA3L6tllcpdoo8yWluVWphf8qPavSCv5DZ9-sBMrFoabSB7l6XJtO1HE79RdjKmdvwXEhSwFSPy22HD7YR/s1600/089.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4YLc3sl8WnGKmzYgA1dC2rsXryCevYUtRPb098ngVb4zhi1qHNMyW_xH3XgiA3L6tllcpdoo8yWluVWphf8qPavSCv5DZ9-sBMrFoabSB7l6XJtO1HE79RdjKmdvwXEhSwFSPy22HD7YR/s400/089.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
Take your two large pieces and figure out how they need to be joined to reach the necessary size batt you need. Batting has two different sides. One is nubby and the other is smoother. Make sure both scrap pieces have the same side facing up as you place them together on your machine.<br />
<br />
This is a bulky job. And, uh, by the way, don't wear black pants. I'm just sayin'...<br />
<br />
So now you've lined up your two scraps side-by-side (not overlapping at all) on the bed of your machine. Start about 6-8" down from the top. It's too hard to start at the top because the weight is pulling it wonky.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNffSWv2jrYjkrOSIc5snV_ibDeqdEFIzuH2HjwwSl6Wb3SsM9rjfJki7M8yqb1C0fmNInP8Yz9pwGRE2xdTpTjLLT9rqdgt-GWjCq-Was_S-E78UEO-Pt69N6tUR-OGj-OJy4owSA2657/s1600/096.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNffSWv2jrYjkrOSIc5snV_ibDeqdEFIzuH2HjwwSl6Wb3SsM9rjfJki7M8yqb1C0fmNInP8Yz9pwGRE2xdTpTjLLT9rqdgt-GWjCq-Was_S-E78UEO-Pt69N6tUR-OGj-OJy4owSA2657/s400/096.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
Set your machine for a zig-zag stitch and needle-down position if your machine has it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRB7OwT-339bIzyco4TAbzWQqkjJt-TXv3BmZytfZpnXb8y7wOfrj2XiozTfx18QaerTj9TA-tJiTvV2P76SGwL86FGx908HnL6ir0gnSnKfWECcuY2ab97mLyuG8kEOubKwPLdRGMQjKw/s1600/090.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRB7OwT-339bIzyco4TAbzWQqkjJt-TXv3BmZytfZpnXb8y7wOfrj2XiozTfx18QaerTj9TA-tJiTvV2P76SGwL86FGx908HnL6ir0gnSnKfWECcuY2ab97mLyuG8kEOubKwPLdRGMQjKw/s400/090.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used a simple, clear presser foot so I could see what was happening. As you feed the batting into the presser foot, Make sure the edges are butting-up against each other but not overlapping. Stop every once in a while or go slowly to make sure you don't start overlapping.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjneeD-9OXFfEI1yTomBtCE238OV_V3AslSNtxjnKzVRSB5JhllH00Zf-FX-5_H4kcV3sQ0YXKJcUAfcuanSsFD3NkuxztxdSXrDdEAiNpjtqk38-3hA77paVTLGQTTOgTTOIxWjXOMJWSS/s1600/094.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjneeD-9OXFfEI1yTomBtCE238OV_V3AslSNtxjnKzVRSB5JhllH00Zf-FX-5_H4kcV3sQ0YXKJcUAfcuanSsFD3NkuxztxdSXrDdEAiNpjtqk38-3hA77paVTLGQTTOgTTOIxWjXOMJWSS/s400/094.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When you get to the end of your seam, clip your threads and go back to the beginning of your seam. Turn the batting around so you can join those 6-8" to finish it off. Now admire your handy-work:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD3PYKaCSlQXLWqgCr3du0rWOOpLDr5F4eqFm_CXIyuDkfMFYOQRSUqlaLBUklpeJ91ucW0WiIri2iMxcLC0zDAtmZV93lBNL_1rU1hmUzlzEd9JkRExqBv4aM13LUfDvmtq_dAAtifyf0/s1600/091.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" i8="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD3PYKaCSlQXLWqgCr3du0rWOOpLDr5F4eqFm_CXIyuDkfMFYOQRSUqlaLBUklpeJ91ucW0WiIri2iMxcLC0zDAtmZV93lBNL_1rU1hmUzlzEd9JkRExqBv4aM13LUfDvmtq_dAAtifyf0/s400/091.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>

FYI - The quilt being basted in the pics is now finished and will be featured on <a href="http://www.modabakeshop.com/">Moda Bake Shop</a> on May 8th. If I can use this technique on a quilt that will be shown publicly, I know you can try it on yours ;-)<br />
<br />
Good luck and let me know how it goes!<br />
<br />
PS - Don't forget about the Longarm Quilting discount I'm offering on quilts I receive by May 31st! SPECIAL PRICES :-)I am thrilled to announce the opening of my new quilting business: <a href="http://www.cottonpig.com/">Cotton Pig</a>. I create custom quilts, t-shirt quilts, and memory quilts along with providing longarm quilting services. I have been working on opening the business since the first of the year but have had too many projects keeping me busy so far to announce it!<br />
<br />
I quilt on a Handi-Quilter Avante machine with a 12' frame. This means that I can accomodate any size quilt up to an over-sized king. I have taken several hours of classes on my machine as well as quilted several quilts on it so far. I wanted to make sure I could do a good job for my clients before offering my services.<br />
<br />
In order to get started with a bang, I am offering basic meandering (stipple) or simple pantograph all-over patterns for just a penny a square inch. That means a double-bed size quilt that is 80"x80" would equal ONLY $64. This is a great chance to pull out those forgotten tops from your UFO stash and get them done once and for all. This price is good for quilts sent to me by May 31, 2011.<br />
<br />
I can also do custom quilting patterns, so just contact me to discuss what you have in mind.<br />
<br />
I offer Warm & White batting for an extra charge. I can also attach your binding to the front and back for an additional charge if you want your quilt completely finished when it arrives back home.<br />
<br />
Please <a href="mailto:frecklemama@yahoo.com">contact me</a> for additional information. For examples of my quilting, check out my Flickr stream. I quilted the AboveAllFabric.com Quilt-Along Quilt on the longarm and used a few different quilting patterns on it.<br />
<br />
If you are already happy with your longarm quilter, please stay with him or her. I don't want to take away anyone's business out there. If you have never tried a longarm quilter and are interested in sending a quilt to a longarm quilter to get it done quickly and affordably, I would love the opportunity to help you!Chris {frecklemama}http://www.blogger.com/profile/02246567685766641637noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4970648236832240415.post-72574176576054998522011-04-07T10:51:00.000-04:002011-04-07T10:51:46.875-04:00Stumped. More about that later. In the meantime, I'm stumped about what to tackle next. I'm on vacation all next week so part of me doesn't want to start something and leave it partially undone while I'm gone, trying to relax.<br />
<br />
I have finished three project quilts this week! Wooohoooo! In case you're wondering why you haven't heard from me on Twitter, I've been either wrangling three kids on Spring Break, driving to and from tennis lessons, playing my own tennis matches, or binding and photographing quilts.<br />

Hub and I are off on Monday for almost a week alone scuba diving, etc. We've never been there before and would love advice, especially which dive shop to use. Our ten year wedding anniversary was last September and we are finally able to celebrate it properly :-) If you don't hear from me next week, you'll know what I'll be up to (and get your minds out of the gutter, there will be lots of BOOK READING AND NAPPING).</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

This is the quilt we are making and it is A-DORABLE. And super-duper easy. We will begin our project on April 11. That gives you one more week to gather your supplies. Check <a href="http://www.aboveallfabric.com/blog/?page_id=4542">here</a> for details. <br />
<br />
Did I mention there are prizes? Yes! Melanie is giving away goodies for those of you who finish the quilt or even just finish the top! This is a quick quilt, and I was able to cut and piece it in one evening. I promise you can do the same.<br />
<br />
Hope you can join us!Chris {frecklemama}http://www.blogger.com/profile/02246567685766641637noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4970648236832240415.post-35292920616692198992011-03-29T08:45:00.000-04:002011-03-29T08:45:30.630-04:00It hurts to twirl.Conversation from this morning with my 3 year old daughter:<br />
